DJ Manny breaks down the future soul of Dizz1’s collaboration with Hezekiah and Ralph Real resizing it for the more progressive dancefloor. Strange Neighbor’s first release ‘Shots Fired’ brought together the Philadelphia soul of Hezekiah and Ralph Real with the future beat production of LA’s Sweatson Klank and Melbourne based Tru Thoughts signee, Dizz1. Turning to another musical meca for this follow up remix, Strange Neighbor enlisted Chicago’s footwork pioneer and Teklife founding member, DJ Manny who delivers this stripped back footwork remix.

The founders of Ghettoteknittianz -Manny, Rashad, Spinn, Tre and Gantman - incubated in the basements and dance studios of Chicago before inspiring the ever-expanding global community of DJ’s, producers and dancers now known as the Teklife movement. The Next Life compilation released in association with London’s Hyperdub label blew open the doors for this years follow up Afterlife compilation - the first release on Teklife’s very own new imprint.

For the Shots Fired Teklife remix, Manny flexes his trademark footwork stepper programming and slides in the odd atmospheric string resulting in a mix that plays well with the full spectrum of related bass music genres. Manny’s extended vocal breakdown and stepped out elemental beat revision serves as that perfect weapon of choice to flip a set into new unexplored dimensions of sound.
